This bike is going to make a lot of racers very happy.

The big story is the new Dura Ace component group.  When Shimano comes out with a new version of a group, it’s big news, and especially so when that group is their top-of-the-line.  As expected (and perhaps more so), the new Dura Ace is an improvement over the old.  It’s lighter, but you expected that.  What you might not have expected is the remarkable ease and quickness of shifting, inviting comparison with Di2 electronic shifting.  The ergonomics are improved.  The brakes have better modulation.  All that and it looks good.  It’s a very, very good component group.

But this bike isn’t just about new Dura Ace.  Here’s the other good news:

• Improved hi-modulus carbon, for greater strength and lighter weight.
• Improved fork and rear stays
• Cannondale’s new Spidering crankset.  Both chainrings are cast together and machined for lightness.  The spooky good looks are an enticing byproduct.
• Improved Mavic Ksyrium SLS wheels
