Several new bikes for me lately- working backwards…
Specialized S-Works Tarmac w/hydraulic discs and DI-2, painted in the same paint job that Specialized did for Niboli for his victory ride into Paris in the Tour De France. It is a truly amazing and impressive but subtle paint design that I will be proud to commute to work on. The bike is so easy to ride that it feels like I’m cheating.
I also ride a Specialized Dan Hughes model Crux Evo gravel road racing bike. I was a little unsure whether I needed this one, since I usually do a lot of gravel roads on my standard road bikes. But my first ride on this was up into the Molalla Forest around Goat Mountain, a 20 mile rough gravel, hilly ride. The last time I was up there on my Tarmac, I had a few flats, got lost, and ran out of water. This bike has 38c tires, three water bottles, hydraulic brakes, Shimano DI-2, and carbon rims. It rides like a racing bike, but with appropriate tires for gravel. So much easier and fun!
I also own a Greg Lemond model Time, painted to honor Greg’s first Tour De France win, set up with Campy EPS. Greg was my first cycling hero, since I watched him race in NorCal as a junior in the mid-‘70s, and he would ride laps around the best cyclists in the nation. There wasn’t any TV coverage of bike racing back then, so getting news of his Worlds and Tour wins were amazing moments for me. To me, this bike channels some of those emotion back while I’m riding it- I swear it makes me faster!
I enjoy riding trails with a variety of challenging terrain. Rocks, roots, steep descents, small jumps and berms add to the fun and challenge of the experience. My Giant Trance Advanced SX is capable of handling a variety of terrain and makes riding very fun!

Road riding is a convenient way to get out on a bike and it can be fast and exciting. These reasons have encouraged me to get out on the road. Last year I built up a custom Argonaut. I wanted it to handle quickly and accelerate in the same manner. This bike is so fun descending and climbing.
I like how it’s the perfect balance of stiffness, ride quality and sharp handling.
Favorite road route:
Santa Cruz Bronson Carbon C
X01 build with the cane creek DBair CS shock upgrade
Favorite trail: Sandy Ridge
Clinton rides a Santa Cruz Tallboy LTC and a Cannondale EVO Hi-mod.
Kevin came to us from Columbus, Ohio, where he did a lot of single track mountain biking. He likes to go fast, but he’s “a big fan of ride-what-you-brought.”
Lelah’s bike experience is all over the map. She’s been a bike messenger, and she races road at the Cat 2 level. She’s also done a lot of touring and bike camping.
Ryan loves Cross and you will always see him at the cross crusade events in either the Men’s A or Single Speed race. He has ridden and raced single speed in cross and mountain. He races on the road all summer at PIR and other various events.
Stefan has a great time on his Time road bike. He also has experience bicycle touring and is a great resource for touring advice.
