Just in time for summer singletrack, Dave Guettler tells us the story of his early 1980’s Ritchey Mountain Bikes mountain bike. “This one’s pretty much the grandaddy of them all. This one is a 1981, maybe 1982, Ritchey Mountain Bikes. The very first mountain bike race I did was in 1981. There was basically two types of bikes that were being raced. All the top racers had Ritchey Mountain Bikes and everyone else had cruisers.”
“Everybody wanted to have the matching stuff and, I mean, you gotta have a pump when you’re riding your bike so you paint it to match the frame. Same thing with the rack.” Serial Number 2R060 denotes this as the 60th frame produced by the Ritchey Mountainbikes brand.
Look for this bicycle and many more hanging from the ceiling in the River City Bicycles main store.
