It has been a very long year, and it all was for this weekend: Para Cycling Nationals in Augusta, Georgia.
The first day is over, with all of us racing a 19.5k time trail over rolling terrain. This was very important because the six fastest men win a trip to the Paralympic games in London later this summer. This year I improved my time by 40 seconds, and won my first C5 National Title! It will look good next to my road race gold medal from last year.
We have a crit tomorrow at 12, then a road race Saturday morning.
It’s close to 95 degrees here, so riding in Portland, New Mexico and Colorado this year has not prepared me at all. I’m hoping for rain to make it feel like home.
